👤 Samuel Smedley
Samuel Smedley was born at Stanton-by-Dale on 29 November 1833, the son of Robert Smedley. He was a boot and shoe-maker by trade, but later took on the Prudential Assurance agency which he kept until his death around 1920.
His son, Peter Battle Smedley, was a joiner by trade.
