Ellen Hancock was a shopkeeper in Stanton-by-Dale in the early 20th century. In January 1909, she appeared before Ilkeston Petty Sessions charged with selling adulterated sweet spirits of nitre on December 2nd, 1908. She pleaded guilty and was fined 2s. 6d. plus £1 10s. 6d. in costs.
