Charities are left thousands in will

NUMEROUS charities and organisations benefited in the will of a county woman who died earlier this year.

Gladys Shepherd Hurt, of Briar Close House, Borrowash, late of Hill Croft Drive, Ockbrook, who died on January 6, left estate valued at £128,385 (£127,697 net). Among bequests she left £1,650 each to the Kidney Unit of Derby City Hospital, Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation; £1,100 to the New Church, Horwood Avenue, Derby, and a further £1,100 to that church as a memorial gift from her husband and herself; £1,000 each to the local Guide Dogs for the Blind, Spina Bifida Association and the Cheshire Home, Staunton Harold, Leicestershire; £550 to the RSPCA, and a further £500 for their Rest Home for Horses; £550 each to Broadway Baptist Church, Derby, Ockbrook All Saints’ Church, the local Help the Aged Association, local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Salvation Army and RNLI, and £1,100 and the residue to the local branch of the Spastics Society, for the purchase of a minibus.

Thomas Broderick, of Wolds Rise, Matlock, who died on March 16, left estate valued at £526,381 (£515,463 net).

Bertram Elimus Haseldine, of The Chequers Inn, Stanton-by-Dale, who died on December 1, 1988, left estate valued at £143,824 (£143,174 net).

Monica Eunice Duckworth, of Ashby Road, Barton, who died on January 31, left estate valued at £124,348 (£122,680 net).

Horace Oliver Killer, of The Fields, Milton-by-Wirksworth, who died on May 12, left estate valued at £157,268 (£156,450 net).

Herbert Hill, of Lockton Avenue, Heanor, who died on June 29, left net estate valued at £106,216 (£105,660 net).

Florence May Brown, of Coopers Close, Ashbourne, who died on July 21, left net estate valued between £10,000 and £25,000. She left £100 to St Oswald’s Church, Ashbourne.

Sarah Ellen Litchfield, of The Green Road, Ashbourne, who died on June 25, left estate valued at £150,407 (£149,854 net).
